Watching a news report the other day about a new diet pill for dogs got me thinking a couple of things…
First, how simply ridiculous this world has become.
And second, how one person’s habits affect other people. Because most of the dog owners in the story needed some diet pills of their own.
Funny how people who are too busy eating Chee-toes to take their dogs for a walk wind up having fat dogs.
And how people who marry overweight spouses wind up mysteriously gaining weight.
And how overweight parents wind up having kids that look like this:
One person’s bad habits become someone else’s bad habits. And that’s not so bad, as long as they also pick up some good habits along the way.
BUT COME TO GRIPS WITH WHAT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING TO YOU!
Fat parents do not automatically have fat kids. They make fat kids by giving them the same lifestyle habits that made them fat.
Sure, genetics plays a part of how a person’s body is shaped, but it’s far more a product of lifestyle. Some have health issues and medications that cause them to gain weight. But most people who are grossly, morbidly overweight have only themselves and their habits to blame.
I stand in line at the grocery store and look at what the people in front of and behind me are buying, and it’s simply stunning when the people buying the cookies, cakes, pizzas, and other processed foods… well… they need some of those doggy diet pills.
Wow. Who would have thought.
And I’m sure most of those people believe with all their hearts that it’s their genetics that cause them to look that way.
Yup. Just like people give it to their spouses.
And the dogs.
